Proud Canon 7D owner + vacationing in Singapore

Journal Entry: Fri Dec 11, 2009, 5:45 AM

Well, am now a proud owner of a Canon 7D. I got it yesterday but the body had a problem (got a persistent error 20 on the lcd display which never went away) and didnt work so I went in today and got a replacement. It's been great ever since :D

Am currently vacationing in Singapore, staying at my sister's place. My first time here and it's been an awesome experience so far. It's tech heaven for me. And what's to say about the girls here other than they is hawt! lol

I just wish I had more money to spend to get stuff I want :[ Something's better than nothing I guess.

I also got a Sigma 70-300 IS lens along with a Canon EFS 18-135mm IS lens (which came as part of the kit), Canon EF 50mm F1.8 II lens and a Speedlite flash which aren't shown in the pic below.

RIP Michael Jackson (1958 - 2009)

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 28, 2009, 7:34 AM

Of course, by now, you must've heard that the King of Pop is dead. If you haven't, you must've been living under a larg rock. I know there are tons of these types of journals popping up in your message centre but I wanted to say something on the matter.
It's so sad :( Yet again one of my childhood idols/heroes (call it what you will) has passed away. Few weeks ago it was David Carradine, now Michael. All those BS child molestation allegations made him go under. The only thing people close to him wanted was to make a quick buck by pretending to be his friend and then sueing him for millions. It's so sad also that the media spent most of the last decade, or so, showing Michael in that light. And because of that, the now generation will know him more for his court battles than his music :( F*** the media!!!

Rest In Peace, Michael... you will be forever missed but not forgotten for your music and dance will live in all of us.

RIP David Carradine + Tiananmen + dB (Edition 29)

Journal Entry: Thu Jun 4, 2009, 9:59 AM

He was found dead in a Bangkok Hotel. Details are still emerging on how. [link]

<UPDATE> Apparently, he committed suicide. He was found hanging by a rope around his neck. </UPDATE>

I watched this guy on Kung Fu (which was one of my all time favourite shows on TV) during my childhood days. I remember, sitting down every Sunday night to watch the show. The storyline and his acting really pulled me into watching the show. It's sad to see when your childhood idols/heroes fade away... and especially in the way David Carradine has. He also starred as Bill in the Kill Bill movies. He was such a great actor. He will be surely missed. RIP grasshopper.

:bulletred: Tiananmen Square and umbrellas: what's the connection?

China has blocked websites like Twitter, Hotmail, and many others to prevent media coverage on the 20th anniversary of this incident. Can you believe what tool (one of many) the Chinese government is using to prevent any media coverage at Tiananmen Square? They are using umbrellas. Yes, umbrellas. I wonder who in the Chinese government came up with this irritatingly brilliant idea?! Take a look

Who's tweeting? + designersBLOCK edition: 24

Journal Entry: Sat Mar 21, 2009, 10:30 AM

So who here uses Twitter? I've been using it for a good 4 months now and it's really fun :D
Add me if you are on it [link]

If you seen the new features that Facebook has pushed out with the updating of status messages as the main way to now interact with your contacts, it copied the idea from Twitter. Facebook tried to acquire Twitter last year but failed and now instead it has just copied Twitter's features.

A lot of Facebookers aren't happy about the new "Twitter-style" feature including me. I used to like the life-stream updates (ie. the updates you get on what your friends have been up to on Facebook like if they uploaded a video, photo, etc) as I got to know what was going on in my network. Not anymore though; now you won't even know your friend uploaded a video or photo unless you go into their media gallery

:bulletred: Designers'Couch Fundraiser

A message from `depthskins and his vision for #designerscouch

For those of you that know me would know I've been working on a non-profit design community/organization called Designers'Couch. It's a place for designers to meet, develop and grow their skills. The donation link below will explain much more of what the project entails. What makes DC unique is the structure, ideas and principles which you'll come to understand once you read the information on the donation page. This is not just about another social community website; it's an organization for freelance designers to professional designers. The group of people that cannot or care not to be a part of aiga.org or rgdontario.com.

What I'm doing now is reaching out to family, friends, clients, past clients and business associates to make a donation. The idea is that if 200 people donate $10 it would be enough to cover 1/3 of development costs. If you're looking for holistic figures for the cost of this project, it's approximately $25k to launch this site as I truly envision. Every cent of your donation will be put towards the development of the website which has a ton of features to gauge our members and inspire our audience.

This project is already underway, the designs are completed, database creation completed and the various modules being completed. The first demo is expected to go live in January and donors who are designers will get first jab at this. You will also be a founding member within the community.

When this site goes live, it's gonna be huge and surpass websites like Behance.net :D Be a part of it, donate now.

No internet + New dA userpages

Journal Entry: Wed Jan 21, 2009, 7:58 AM

WAAAAAA!!! :crying:
I moved house the past weekend and have no internet at home.
And due to the fact that we moved to a different zone of the telecom network, the re-connection will be delayed by minimum a week's time if not more because that's how stupid and incompetent everything is over here :(
I had to disconnect and close my ISP subscription package and open a new one just because we switched zones :ohmygod:
SERIOUSLY FRUSTRATING!!! :|
Am currently only able to access the net from work :(

Journal Entry: Fri Dec 12, 2008, 10:30 PM

High voltage often screams for danger
Don't let this senior be a stranger.

:bulletred: designersBLOCK: Edition 18

Designers’ block is often a term given to phenomenon whereby designers/artist suffer a mental block. We’ve all suffer this at some time or the other. It’s usually a result of stress, lack of creativity, unmotivated, etc. So, we would like to help those designers who need inspiration by putting together a team of five designers that will feature deviations from Designs and Interface gallery.

As much as the article is to expose artists, its primary focus is to be a retreat where one can be inspired and gather ideas. As a result, favorites, comments and views do not affect the designs being chosen, neither does having a daily deviation.

With all that said

Be inspired... [link]

Journal Entry: Wed Sep 24, 2008, 1:16 PM

Dear Bobby,

I don't really know how to tell you this, but the mafia wants you. I think I realized it first of May in your camping car and I saw you sit on my avocado plant. I'm sure you're frostbitten enough to understand that Extreme Home Makeover sucks. I'm returning your memories from the military service to you, but I'll keep your collection of butterflies as a memory. You should also know that I will tell the authorities about your passionate interest for mice.

Greetings to your freaky family,

Tagged.... uuuuggghhh

Yes, I've been tagged by that ever mischievous girl with an innocent smile, `anmari :P Usually, I don't do tags and show peeps this particualar stamp below.

But since she's a friend (oh what good friends I have =P lol), I thought hey I'll do it :paranoid:

Rules of the game:

- Choose a singer/band/group
- Answer using ONLY titles of songs by that singer/band/group
- Tag 6 more people (let them know they've been tagged)

I'm picking Backstreet Boys! :lmao: ROFL (am not picking Linkin Park, Ana :nana: u lose)

1. Are you male or female? Boys Will Be Boys :slow:
2. Describe yourself. Children Of The World
3. What do people feel when they're around you? By My Side :strip:
4. How would you describe your previous relationship? Don't Leave Me :<
5. Describe your current relationship. Baby I'm Yours
6. Where would you want to be now? Anywhere For You
7. How do you feel about love? Answer To Our Life
8. What's your life like? Drowning
9. What would you ask for if you had only one wish? 10,000 Promises
10. Say something wise. Everybody :#1:

NOTICE - am in no way a backstreet boys fan, I just picked this band at random =P

Anmari Journal Design

This is a journal design for `anmari. It's for her and her only, unauthorized usage is prohibited (This is to you hackers out there :evileye:) lol. Credit goes to $zilla774 for letting `anmari use the artwork in this journal. Big up to you, man

Someone promised me a poop journal, am still waiting :P

Am liking the new dAv6 :) I was beta-testing it since the beta version launched and have grown to like it so much that I don't think I can ever go back to v5. Yes, there are a few setbacks which the IT team will have to still sort out, some of them being...

  • The are no special features for "subscribed" deviants. Both paid and unsubscribed deviants have the same features at the moment but I believe there's a solution coming along soon that subscribers will be happy to see.
    • The message centre shows previews of journals including the header content which is kind of a problem since, if you have a css journal going (like this one), you would notice the css code popping up as the preview rather than the actual body text. Hope this gets sorted out soon.
Did you guys notice this in your message centre for this journal? If so, please let me know :)

Other than that and a few other things, I think v6 is pretty swell. Atleast that is my opinion of it :D
