Jark (Scott) was one of the founding members of deviantART and was the Community Development Director (the position that $lolly now holds). He was controversially terminated without warning or notice and was asked to leave staff. He was one of the loved staff members here who had a great vision for this place but all that died when he was fired. So to show respect, some of us Jark supporters still see him with the $ symbol instead of the °. There's more to the story but you'd have to experience it to understand. You could probably dig around dA and find out information. And the first place i would suggest you look is at `bookdiva's page (she's Jark's mom).
